Set off on an unforgettable day out to discover Tunisia’s finest treasures, combining Mediterranean charm, authentic culture and an oriental atmosphere. This excursion invites you to explore Sidi Bou Saïd, the famous blue-and-white village overlooking the turquoise sea near Carthage, as well as the bustling heart of Tunis and its craft souk, all in a friendly atmosphere.

Departure from Hammamet
Your day gets off to a gentle start after breakfast, with a 8.00 am pick-up from the reception at your hotel in Hammamet. Make yourself comfortable and enjoy the journey as you take in the Tunisian countryside on your way to the north of the country.
Discover the beautiful village of Sidi Bou Saïd
At around 9.00–9.15 am, arrival in Sidi Bou Saïd, a veritable white and blue gem overlooking the Mediterranean. Accompanied by your guide, you’ll explore the picturesque narrow streets, the traditional houses with their blue doors, the spectacular views and the history of this iconic village. After the guided tour, enjoy two hours of free time to wander at your own pace, take some magnificent photos, savour a Tunisian tea and discover works of art in the village’s small galleries.
Great spots:
- Discover the famous Café des Délices, featured in Bruel’s song, and its splendid sea view. The café is a little more expensive than elsewhere, but the view is well worth it.
- Dar el-Annabi Heritage Museum (admission around 2 CHF). Here you’ll find a beautiful traditional house with blue and white décor, and you can explore the interior – from the rooms to the garden and up to the roof – to enjoy the view.
A taste of the atmosphere in Tunis
Around 11.00–11.15, departure for Tunis city centre. On arrival at around 11.30 am, your guide will introduce you to the unique atmosphere of the Tunisian capital: its bustling streets, its cultural heritage and its authentic charm. You’ll have the chance to explore the souk of Tunis with its many artisans, straight out of an oriental fairy tale.
Lunch in a traditional restaurant
Between 12.30 pm and 12.45 pm, we’ll head to a restaurant for lunch in a traditional setting with a distinctly Tunisian charm. You’ll enjoy a pleasant meal, discovering local flavours in a warm and traditional atmosphere. Estimated time for the meal: approximately 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes.

Back to Hammamet
Lunch is scheduled for around 1.30 pm at Dar Ammar, in a typically Tunisian setting.
A tour of the Roman amphitheatre
At 2.30 pm, a tour of the El Jem Amphitheatre lasting approximately 1½ hours.
This exceptionally well-preserved monument dating from the Roman era is one of Tunisia’s best-known historical sites. It offers a fascinating insight into ancient architecture and the Roman presence in North Africa. As they wander through its galleries, tiers of seating and underground passages, visitors are immersed in the atmosphere of the Roman spectacles of yesteryear and discover a place steeped in centuries of history.
